Hi Alexander. There’s a couple of different general aspects to consider – the technical skills needed to fly an aircraft plus the professional and personal skills needed to fly for a living. Certainly learning everything is hard – but then so are most professional jobs and also you don’t need to have perfect skills on day one – just the aptitude to learn and sufficient evidence of potential in order to get selected in the first place.

Of course there’s no way for me to know whether you may or may not ‘handle it all’ (as per your question) … but to give yourself the best possible chance I recommend that you inform yourself about all the aspects of the skills and education needed AND start working now towards each aspect (particularly the aspects you have most control over now: looking for opportunities to develop and exhibit your teamwork and communication skills). If you want to be a pilot, prove it to yourself and others by backing up your intent with action – this’ll take years (as does education in general) but will stand you in good stead for the future.

To get you started, try putting “what skills and knowledge do I need to become a pilot” into a search engine – that’ll give you some more details about the breadth of skills and education you’re likely to need. Also, look at https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/job-profiles/airline-pilot.

      Good luck.
