I was born in Hertfordshire and have lived in the area for most of my life. I moved to Geneva in Switzerland for 3 years at the age of 8. I studied Chemistry at the University of York for 4 years. I then started working at Johnson Matthey and have been here ever since!
Outside of work I like to stay active, and do a lot of swimming and running. I have done several half marathons and also do Parkrun most weekends. I also like hiking and climbing mountains when I can, Hertfordshire is very flat though!

My Work:
I work on a large Chemical plant, where we make metal salts and catalysts. I look after a small team of Chemists and Engineers and we help out when things go wrong!

I work on a Chemical Plant, where we make a huge variety of metal salts and catalysts. These are used for a lot of applications, including to make medicines, parts for airplane engines, parts for cars and loads more. For my job, I look after a team of Chemists and Engineers and we help when things go wrong and ensure that the plant runs safely. We use a lot of very dangerous chemicals so working with these safely is extremely important.

My Typical Day:
I wake up at around 6:00 and usually start my day by going swimming. I arrive at work at 8. My typical work day would involve working on the plant, attending some meetings and doing some admin work like updating procedures or risk assessments. I have lunch at the onsite (free!) canteen. I head home at 4:30 PM and then relax, or some evenings I’ll go out for a run.
