I am a chemical engineer degree apprentice. That means I work for a company called AstraZeneca which is a pharmaceutical company . The main goal of our company is to supply medicines to patients and to help poorly people that might not be feeling so well ! As a chemical engineer my job as an apprentice is to learn how these medicines are made and to help them be made on a big scale like in a factory or what we call pilot plant from a small lab scale like pipettes and flasks. I really enjoy my job as an engineer and love working on new equipment to make these new medicines and think new technology is really cool.
My hobbies outside of work involve jujitsu and martial arts which i love doing as it is fun and helps me makes friends. I also love going to the gym and lifting heavy weights. As a more calming activities I love playing the piano and the flute, I also help out at my local church and love going out with my friends for meals and walks.

This can involve commissioning or decommissioning machines which means making machines up and running so we can use them or taking them out of use. I also do calculations to make sure when we take a reaction from lab to the factory nothing big changes such as stirring or dissolving. My job involves looking for ways to help making medicines easier and better for our patients

My Typical Day:
I wake up and eat breakfast. I travel to work at 8am where I attend lots of meetings and go watch what happen in the labs as well as work with engineering technicians and operators. I go home at 4 if I do not have to study for my degree. I did used to work on a pilot plant where I actually operated ,machinery which was very cool

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would donate it to a charity that would help students get into STEM related careers and help them get relevant work experience. I would use this money to help advertise apprenticeships to younger people as I believe this is a very important way into STEM for women
